The Greater St. Louis Postal Customer Council wins National Award.
The Postmaster General of the United States, Jack Potter, announced during the national address on September 19, 2007 that The Greater St. Louis Postal Customer Council (PCC) was awarded the highest recognition, National PCC of the Year. This is a great honor; not only because of the recognition received by the St. Louis PCC for 2006-2007, but also that the Postmaster General will be giving next year’s annual address from right here in St. Louis.
The National Postal Customer Council, an organization made up of United States Postal Service representatives, industry mailers, and vendors has 200 chapters across the United States and boasts 100,000 members. The Greater St. Louis PCC has over 3,100 members. During 2006 PCC Day event, St. Louis received two Gold Awards for: Education Program Excellence and Communication Program Excellence.
The focus of a Postal Customer Council is to provide opportunities for networking with other mailers as well as postal officials, with an emphasis on postal education. On May 14, 2007 the postal service instituted not only a rate change but also a postal reform which changed the way in which mail is processed. The Greater St. Louis PCC stepped up its educational offerings, and over 300 mailers in the St. Louis area entered the postal reform feeling confident and comfortable with the new changes.
